Coasts in Mind

For Coast in Mind Elspeth worked with East Kent Mencap members to create a sensory chest about the coastal location in Swalecliffe.

East Kent Mencap members were asked to contribute to the sensory boxes through a walk with poetry in the chosen location. Participants collected sensory materials on the walk. The focus was on sound, touch, and smell. The project was facilitated by the artist Elspeth Penfold

The sensory chest was shared with residents at a local care home to trigger memories and share local knowledge about the area.
